Bonsai Sweet Heat Peppers

The sweet heat peppers in 2nd year certainly are keeping up with their reputation of bearing fruit first! Even if they look like Bonsai pepper plants. Yep, after pruning just 8 weeks ago the peppers are popping out. Our plants at Alejandro are much smaller due to the pruning but these sweet heat peppers are healthy with strong trunks and mature enough to blossom and produce.

It was unintentional to create small Bonsai peppers plants. In our first year we assumed that these plants would grow out again before baring fruit. We learned that these plants are mature enough to bare fruit even with just a few branches. It will be fun to see how these Sweet heats yield this year.

Tomato Patch at Alejandro Farms

Phase 2 of Alejandro Farm is now complete with a tomato patch for early 2013. We installed some nice pave stone to help keep area clean and free of weeds and easy to access  to plants. We also reconfigured our irrigation system to make room for the expansion of tomato patch and also phase 3. The irrigation now has 3 manual shut-off valves to allow targeted watering throughout seasons. As before, we feature an auto distribution of liquid plant food to our Peppers, Tomato's and Strawberries.

First Strawberry on Valentines!

Our first strawberry (Quinault) is ready for pickin on Valentines Day! We hope to have a good first season with these strawberries to make homemade preserves. Hm, Hm, Hm. The taste was nice and sweet and provided some insight of what may be coming.

Strawberries at Alejandro Farm

We were able to give away several of our Serrano peppers to some friends in Rockport, TX to make room for Strawberries this year. Yep, we'll be growing Seascape, Ozark Beauties and Quinault's. Looking forward to see which strawberries perform the best.
